The ya es hora campaign is the largest and most comprehensive effort to incorporate Latinos as full participants in the American political process. The campaign is lead by the NALEO Educational Fund in conjunction with Mi Familia Vota Education Fund, NCLR, SEIU, and media companies Entravision, impreMedia, and Univision, and includes organizational partners at the national, state, and local levels.
In 2009, the historic ya es hora campaign expands its focus to include the 2010 Census – ya es hora İHAGASE CONTAR!
Objective
The ya es hora İHAGASE CONTAR! campaign seeks to motivate Latinos to participate in the 2010 Census. We seek to increase mail response rates among Latino households in the United States through a sustained and aggressive community education initiative and Spanish-language media campaign.
Elected and appointed officials can participate in the campaign in various ways to ensure that our local communities are fully informed and fully counted in the Census.
Goals
- Motivate Latinos to participate in the 2010 Census by educating the community on the benefits of a full Latino count.
- Reduce any fears of participating in the 2010 Census by serving as trusted messengers.
- Increase the mail return rates of Latino households by providing accessible information and assistance.
